Covering a 45-kilometre zone across the Forth Estuary, the Freeport spans Edinburgh, Falkirk, and Fife.
It includes three designated tax sites:

- Mid-Forth (Burntisland and Leith)
alongside customs sites that support trade and logistics operations.
